This is exciting.
I’ve decided to make things a little more grown up…mostly prettier. I guess when people think grown up they think of greys and straight lines – just boring. I am trying to make it look a little cleaner and put together. A new refreshed clean look. That is my intention…whether I can pull it off? Too soon to tell.
I’ve changed up my blogging approach a little. I wanted to make things a little cleaner and prettier. Prettier is always a good reason to do anything.
Before: www.caitlinannexo.com — eventually i’ll probably figure out a way to link them but until then…i’m starting off fresh.
Along with perfecting this beautiful site of mine- humble brag 🙂 – I also am spending this gloomy Saturday morning watching When Harry Met Sally. I’m snuggled up on the couch with tasty hot bevvies & mounds of comfy blankets. Unfortunately, this also includes laundry. This is a combo I don’t particularly hate on a rainy day like today.
One of the most iconic scenes ever.
I imagine this is his “Ahhhh I’m so excited!” face?
Currently making our way through Quebec en route to the East Coast!!!! Or should I say fighting our way through. Not only is it raining but Nick is convinced that the truckers are all against him lol scheming together against him to slow him down and not let him past. Probably doesn’t help when I just smirk or evil cackle at him. Things are going so far so good (touch black!).
We spent last night packing the car. He is a self proclaimed Tetris master and claims those skills make him a master packer. I cat lie, it is impressive how perfectly things fit into this auto. Consider we have packed and planned for all kinds of things… Basically just impressed is all I’m getting at.
We departed at 3:30am. It sounds so official and business like lol when in actuality I rolled out of bed brushed my teeth (or brushed les dents) and grabbed some stuff. Although tempted to nap, especially in this gloomy rain, I am forcing @nerdist podcasts on Stump in an attempt to convert him. I think it’s working. Thanks Comicon and The Big Bang Theory.
This will likely what my posts will consist of. Mini check-ins and quirky Cait stories.
Well Hello PEI, you exceptional island.
Ok, before I dive into our day so far in PEI lets just finish up on day two.
We decided while eating dinner at the TIde&Boar (compliments of You gotta Eat Here!) that although Moncton was a pretty and quaint little city, we’d rather head to our next stop and set up camp. Murray Beach. Wow. I can’t even explain what kind of wickedawesomeness it was sooo…take a look for yourself.
Just a little photo op in the sunshine before a little fish.
Oh well hello there Atlantic, my friend.
Could it be any better?
Him trying I win… Wasting his time basically.
Our temporary home away from home for the night.
Camping was spectacular. Right on the water and kind of secluded, perfection. I say that but MUST mention of stingy little fire sitch. After our battle of Rummy O, we attempted to build a fire. The only problem… Wet wood and no kindling. A very tricky situation when trying to catch a flame. As the sun set and the cold crept in… We started to loose hope. Although surrounded by a beautiful scenic setting, the cold was raining on our parade. UNTIL!?!? Faith in humanity restored. A campsite not too far from us saw we were struggling and came and helped us out with some dry stuff and the rest is history. 🙂
So we are just on our way to Charlottetown,PEI. Plan to do some sightseeing and pick up a few things (hatchet, booze, marshmallows…) to get us a little better prepared for camping again tonight- IIIII LOOOOVVEEE CAMPPPPINNNGGG! And sneak in a lobster feast. We had some lobster rolls today- (hello vacation, goodbye wasteline).
Delicious, but the furthest from nutritious.
Tonight’s pictures will be the real cherry.
Well that’s my quick little update/check-in. Lets hope tonight’s sleep is as cozy but 100xs warmer.
Cape Breton has been conquered by the Roadtrip King and Queen.
Yesterday was mostly filled with driving the Cabot Trail. One of the most magnificent things I have ever done. Braved the trails sharp corners and steep hills like the badass kids we are. Nick loved the drive and I loved the view. Although the pics don’t do the views justice, I think I took about 600 in under 5 hours. Lets see… Which one to share? Hmmm…
We made a few stops and obviously each was incredible in a different way.
Nicks belly is also extremely happy. Livin’ the Lobster Life. 2 extreme lobster dinners in 2 nights for him. The amount of food we have consumed is mind boggling. I feel like we’ve never had a chance to get hungry, like starving hungry. This is probably a good thing. Avoiding him getting hungry means avoiding him getting hangry. AND NO ONE WANTS TO MEET THAT DRAGON.
His & Mine: our scrumdiddaliumptious dinner lastnight (I NEEDED some veggies)
Now, we are on our way to Halifax for some camping. We stayed in a gorgeous hotel last night with a King bed- only confirming our thoughts on needed one when we grow up and become adults lol.
The whole mix of pretty much 2 days camping and 1 night hotel is working really well. It’s allowing us to save money and get in those good night sleeps and necessary super clean up (we were starting to stick and get used to the smell 😄).
We are probably spend some time in Halifax- 2 days & hopefully meet up with our friend who lives out here. I’m excited to experience the city and what it’s got to show off.
To look forward to… WHALE WATCHING!!!!!!! And more seafood 🙂
Another day, Another glorious drive to another gorgeous city. This trip is already so good. One of the more notable parts is TWO RAINBOWS IN TWO DAYS. I imagine if you read that you gasped with complete jealousy. I don’t blame you. You can see it tucked in right behind us.
The old and awesome Grand Falls, NB.
We are now making our trip to Moncton. We were initially suppose to stop in Fredericton but thought mehhh- let’s hit up Moncton. If we have time on our venture back, well likely stop in.
Today I have tagged as Moncton Madness. Nicks been dreaming about lobster so I think we’ll indulge. A LOT. Yesterday he told me he was so excited for lobster and butter that he was expecting to gain 15lbs on this trip followed by an incredible quote. “Lobster with some butter please. Oh and to drink? I’ll get a glass of butter. Thank you.”
This is us. Roadtrippin’ King and his Queen.
Thankfully, we stayed at a hotel last night to get in a good nights sleep (much needed and deserved for Him. It was a refreshing night where we could rest and wash the road off. Good because tonight were gonna get dirty. NOT LIKE THAT sicko. We’re aiming to hit up Magnetic hill campgrounds and pitch ourselves a cozy tent.
Best Western Plus. Also, the best in the East.
So that will be it for meow.
Coming up… An enormous amount of foodie pics. 🙂 once again..you should be jealous (it’s making my tummy grumble just thinking of it)
This summer has been spectacular.
Moving home from Toronto was quite the adjustment.
Going from being a full time student living with friends to moving home under my mothers roof could have gone worse. It also could have gone better. It really was all about adjusting. Adjusting my sleeping schedule, my relationships struggled and…well basically everything.
The hardest transition must be my relationship.
Being in Toronto forced a mind frame that was ok with a long distance relationship.
Coming home was hard for us because we couldn’t figure out how to navigate our lives that we had become so accustom to apart and now having all this time when we didn’t need to travel an hour and pre plan a week in advance to see each other — well it was a difficult change but we are working with it and better than ever.
I was once told that if you can make it through a few years in a long distance relationship, you will make it through everything. AND I BELIEVE IT!
This is NOT a flattering picture but it is one full of Love
(Another photo ruined by Movember)
It has been a wild summer and my computer decided it didn’t like the location changed and was a real jerkstore when I moved- decided it have like an internal temper tantrum forcing my hand to reformat. Everything is back up and running *knock on wood- literally knocked on my bed frame – & now i am able to update and get back on track with this blog, checking emails, tackling my evergrowing list of e-books, and recipe hunting and reviewing.
Here are a few of the things I have been up to in the last few months on my summer..
|Toby and my main squeeze on a hike.
(it is hard to spot Toby – look for the bushy tail)
|Toby taking a dip-
|Gorgeous flowers in our garden.
|How DELISH do these look? Picked from our backyard cherry treeeee
|My FAVOURITE moment of the summer – I will actually probably do an entire post on this– my incredible mum not only kicked cancers ass- she rocked the Ride2ConquerCancer!!!
Going back and seeing these photos make me incredible happy but also makes me feel like this summer is flying by.
Every weekend has been filled with one thing or another & I am really motivated now to document and share more. Obviously some things wont make it up and out into the interweb but there are some great moments and silly things I love sharing and showing!!!
